Work-life and personal life mirror each other more than we realize. We take on new challenges, we learn, and we need to ask for help to improve along the way.
2024 has been a year of transformation for me. I launched my own consulting company, helped my son transition to adulthood (he’s now off to college out of state!), relocated, and even picked up a new challenge—golf—after a 20-year break.
For those who know me, I’m an athlete at heart. I’ve played volleyball, basketball, and ran track. I thrive on hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, lifting weights, riding my Peloton, and practicing Pilates. But golf? That’s a new ballgame that demands patience, hard work, tenacity, practice, and motivation... all skills I’ve honed during my sales career.
Just like a successful team needs a great coach, I knew I needed guidance to refine my skills on the course. I’m not trying to become the next Scottie Scheffler or Lilia Vu, but I want to step onto the green with the confidence and skill to enjoy the game truly. So, I have hired a coach and am putting in the work.
The biggest lesson I’ve embraced this year is that you’re never too old to take risks, try new things, and launch into the unknown—whether it’s starting a business or mastering a new sport. Here’s to tackling hard things and enjoying every step of the journey!
