Some of my favorite people are introverts.
That might seem surprising coming from an extreme extrovert often described as having "a big personality." A fair statement. But as I've grown, I've learned when and how to calm the seas within me and leverage the profound value of stillness.
Introverts have profoundly shaped me. They've taught me:
✅ The strength in introspection
✅ The power of pausing before acting
✅ The peace found in quiet moments
Being introverted doesn't mean being weak, meek, or disengaged. Quite the opposite, many introverts skillfully "turn on" their extroverted side for certain situations. The real insight is recognizing their internal battery level and respecting their need for solitude afterward. Like an engineer who clearly communicates complex concepts without confusing their audience, an introvert who engages others with an outgoing personality demonstrates remarkable skill and adaptability.
Growing up in a loud, chaotic household full of drama and constant motion, silence was unfamiliar territory for me. Initially, I didn't know what to do with peace or stillness. However, through friendships and collaborations with thoughtful, introspective individuals, I've discovered the immense value of slowing down and simply sitting quietly with myself.
Embracing quiet moments has provided clarity, purpose, and unexpected confidence, both personally and professionally. There's guidance in silence, power in pause, and immense strength in introspection.
Today, I encourage everyone, whether naturally introverted or extroverted, to intentionally seek and appreciate quiet moments. You might discover exactly what you didn't even know you were missing.
