Let’s Leave the Ghosting to Haunted Houses

Lately, I've been thinking about the growing trend of ghosting, not just in business, but in our personal lives too. Somewhere along the way, it's become more common for people to disappear from relationships, conversations, and commitments without a word. No explanation. No closure. Just silence.

I see it happen everywhere, with our kids, our friends, in families, and even in professional settings. It's disturbing how normalized this has become.

I’ve always believed that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. But lately, I'm shocked by how quickly adults seem to vanish from relationships rather than show the maturity to communicate honestly.

It's absolutely acceptable to end a relationship, a partnership, or even a friendship, but end it. Don’t just fade away like you're avoiding a bad blind date.

I've watched my son's friendships ebb and flow over the years, and I remind him often: when someone drifts away, don't internalize it too deeply. Sometimes, the issue isn't about you at all; it’s on the other side of the fence.

As we roll through spooky season and beyond, let’s commit to keeping the ghosts in the haunted houses where they belong. Be brave enough to say the hard things. To have the awkward conversation. To close a door with integrity, not avoidance.

Because real connection and real character require communication.
