Self-awareness is a leadership superpower, but most of us are overestimating ours.
90% of people think they're self-aware, but research shows that only about 10-15% actually are.
That gap? It's not just personal; it impacts everything.
I've seen a lack of self-awareness affect company strategy, leadership dynamics, and individual success. On the flip side, when self-awareness is present, alignment improves, communication sharpens, and teams thrive.
It's not just about knowing your strengths. It's about understanding your blind spots, triggers, and how your behavior impacts others. This is the HARDEST part for most people, and those who profess to be the most self-aware are typically the least.
Some of the biggest growth moments in my career have come from uncomfortable feedback and honest reflection. It's not easy, but it's where real leadership begins.
If you're on that journey, too, keep going. It's worth it. As I continue to build company strategy, engage with leadership for their revenue growth, or do individual or team coaching, I will lean into deep analysis to get to your core identity and help you build your self-awareness skills.
